To detect the presence of ferric iron in tissue (normally occurring or from ruptured red blood cells).

The sagittal rabbit brain sections below were stained for ferric iron with the Perls method, enhanced with DAB and then lightly counter-stained with Thionine (Nissl). Using MultiBrain® technology, the two animals were embedded together in one block, then sectioned, stained, and mounted simultaneously.
